FCV Swim Team Information

Practices are not mandatory; however, the more you attend, the better you will get!

Please refer to the practice schedule for your swimmer(s) practice time(s). Coach will speak to families directly if an athlete is to practice in another time slot.

Meets will be on Thursdays beginning June 15th. We will have four regular season meets and one championship meet (broken into two days by age group). Please refer to the meet schedule for dates/times. Coach will send out arrival and warm-up times the week of the meet.

Families will need to commit their swimmers to each meet. On Sunday before each meet, Coach will send out a digital form for swimmers to commit or decline the meet. This form MUST be completed. Swimmers who do not complete the form will NOT be entered into the meet. NO EXCEPTIONS! If something comes up and your swimmer cannot attend a meet he/she has committed to, please inform Coach ASAP! It is very difficult to shuffle kids around at the last minute. We don't want other swimmers (especially relay teams) to miss out on an event because a teammate is a no-show.

Swimmers can swim in up to four events in a meet. We want our swimmers getting as much competition experience as possible! However, if a swimmer is not proficient in a stroke, he/she will not be put into that event. Subsequently, some swimmers may swim only 1-3 events in a meet.

During meets, swimmers must be sitting in the FCV designated area. Ready bench volunteers will be corralling kids a few events prior to their swim. This can get chaotic! Please pay attention to what event we are on so you can help get your swimmer to the blocks on time!

Swimmers MUST know what events they are swimming at meets. Heat sheets will be sent out via SportsYou as soon as they are available. They will also be posted at the pool. Please do not come to warm-ups and ask a coach what you are swimming.

Disqualifications (DQs) happen! They happen to high school, college, and professional swimmers! No one likes being disqualified, but we will use it to fix mistakes and become better swimmers.

Six and under swimmers can have assistance in the water during exhibition heats.

Swimmers must have a cap (included with registration fee), goggles, and a water bottle at every practice and meet.

Families MUST create a SportsYou account and download the app to access our team's information feed. All updates, including changes to practice, weather cancellations, meet commitment forms, heat sheets, etc. will be posted there. Make sure your notifications are turned on so that you receive updates in a timely manner! Please see the SportsYou flyer below to sign up.

Each family must volunteer for two meets. A sign-up will go out. We cannot start a meet without all of our volunteer positions filled! Don't be afraid to sign up for something new! We will train you! Most of the volunteer positions are the BEST seat in the house!

We will also be asking for concession donations for each home meet. A sign-up will go out. You can sign up for items or donate cash. Our concessions earnings help fund our end-of-season party!
